The Muslim Civil Rights Project (MCRP) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to confronting anti-Muslim hate, strengthening civil rights, and empowering American Muslims to become active leaders in their communities.
MCRP combines media, education, research, and grassroots organizing to help Muslims understand the issues affecting them and respond effectively.
We train MCRP Ambassadors through practical activist education designed to develop stronger communicators, organizers, and community leaders. Ambassadors then take what they learn and put it into action in their own cities through community education, advocacy, coalition building, public engagement, and local organizing.
Through MCRP Hate Watch, we research and document anti-Muslim hate, track emerging narratives and incidents, and turn credible research into reports, articles, and compelling media that help communities better understand and challenge Islamophobia.

Our Team
Director Faizan Syed
The Muslim Civil Rights Project was founded by Director Faizan Syed, a longtime Muslim civil rights leader, nonprofit executive, community organizer, public speaker, and leadership trainer with more than 15 years of experience working with Muslim communities across the United States.
He founded the Muslim Civil Rights Project to build a new model of civil rights advocacy—one that combines modern media, credible research, grassroots organizing, leadership development, and direct community action.
His vision for MCRP is to build a nationwide network of Muslim activists and community leaders who are prepared not only to respond to hate, but to organize, communicate effectively, educate others, and create lasting change in the communities where they live.
